Blog, Men’s Style Tips • 28 January 2020

The colder months are the ideal opportunity to embrace more luxurious fabrics and stylish, warmer clothes. Throughout the winter, accessories play a key part in keeping you warm and adding an extra something to your look. If you want to elevate your winter wardrobe for the next few months, from the warmest men’s socks to wearing classic colour combinations, we’re here to help…

Layer up

If you’re looking to layer up in the winter, make sure to choose complementary colours throughout your outfit. Wearing a navy blue shirt? Warm oranges and russets, other shades of blue, even pink. Also, make sure to consider the textures and fabrics that you’re wearing, so you don’t bulk up your look too much.

Add some colour

If your winter wardrobe is currently a sea of black, grey and navy, why not try a splash of colour to brighten up your outfits? From the bold Pink Friday or Saffron in the Simply Sartorial collection of Scottish Lisle Cotton socks to the confident checks , if you want add some colour, we have you covered.

Stick with classic combinations

Navy and brown. Burgundy and blue. Grey and green If you would like to inject some fresh shades into your winter wardrobe, these are failsafe colour combinations. Hollywood stylist Ilaria Urbinati designed a trio of brown designs for London Sock Company for this very reason, “The browns of The Fall Collection are great for all the 70s vibes at the moment. These socks are great with autumnal colours and winter fabrics like tweeds and Herringbone,” says the stylist.

A word on the feet

Obviously, we believe that socks are an integral part of any outfit. However, you must also consider the shoes that you are wearing during the colder months. A sturdy set of boots is a must for those bad-weather days, particularly if you are walking in the countryside. London Sock Company’s organic cotton boot socks are made for winter rambles. Heading off-road? Try merino wool welly socks – warm, temperature-regulating, breathable, durable.

Co-ordinate your accessories

Dressing tonally – using colours from the same palette – is key to pull together any outfit. As the winter weather requires more accessories, it’s the ideal time to experiment with complementary colours. Wearing a navy blue scarf? Jermyn St. Houndstooth in Blue is the perfect style to try.
