Men’s Style Tips: New Year’s Eve
Pour yourself some champagne, memorise the words to Auld Lang Syne, and prepare to wish 2019 goodbye. It’s New Year’s Eve, and we have some advice for looking your best to welcome in the new decade.
Be decadent
New Year’s Eve is one of the only nights of the year that you can truly go all out when it comes to your sartorial choices. Have you been afraid to rock that velvet tuxedo jacket? Are those patterned trousers still at the back of your wardrobe? Scared to wear your bright London Sock Company styles? Tonight is the night. Be bold, and bring in the new decade with an air of decadence.
Stand out from the crowd
Add a splash of colour, as nothing says partywear like a bright coloured sock from our Simply Sartorial range. Here at London Sock Company, our mantra is a new year, new hue(s), and what better way to stand out from the crowd than with some of our best and brightest styles? Discover the full collection.
Fix up, look sharp
The Black Tuxedo Collection is a box of three designs that are part of a collaboration with Hollywood stylist Ilaria Urbinati. These styles, with a pop of red or peek of a pattern, were created with a black-tie event in mind. “This collection is the go-to for a tux or black suit, with any black shoe,” explains Ilaria. “And it’s also perfect for the guy who wants to dip his toe – so to speak – into the bold sock game, but isn’t really ready to go nuts yet.” Style these with your finest suit and look sharp for the midnight countdown.
Layer up
Nothing beats a sharp suit on New Year’s Eve, and our friends at The Rake offer their advice on how to perfectly balance wearing a suit with knitwear, for the inevitably cold December night (and early January morning). “If you’re to wear a rollneck beneath a jacket, it can’t be too thick as it will look ridiculous and puffy. In terms of styling, the obvious instinct is to keep it tonal, for instance with a charcoal cashmere or Merino wool rollneck beneath a charcoal flannel suit,” Benedict Browne, stylist and style columnist advises.
Make some style resolutions
As we usher in a new decade, there is no more fitting time to revamp your wardrobe. If upping your style game is part of your 2020 vision, then why not start from the ground up, and at the first social event of the year? If you have historically worn some of our more traditional colours, tonight is the night to showcase your brightest London Sock Company designs that are in your sock drawer. A crowd favourite is our Pink Friday style, from our most popular Simply Sartorial Range.
And finally, dance your socks off
Enjoy New Year’s Eve, and may 2020 be your most stylish year yet…
