Step This Way: Our London Walk with Mrs Londoner

At London Sock Company, we talk a lot about walking brighter. About putting your best foot forward — in style, in confidence, in colour. Recently, we took that philosophy onto the streets, hosting our first-ever walking tours for a select group of LSC customers.

Led by expert guide Sarah Williams-Robbins – known to many as @meetmrslondoner –the walks took us through some of the City of London’s most historic (and often overlooked) corners. Think fan-vaulted churches, pink-stone landmarks, secret gardens, and the occasional Victorian gin palace.

It was a sunny morning of sharp socks, good conversation and a fresh look at the capital. A chance to connect – with the city, with each other and with what it really means to Walk Brighter.

A Different Side of the City

Starting in the impressive Guildhall Yard, Sarah guided us down alleyways and side streets that hide in plain sight. We paused at a turquoise police box on King Street, marvelled at the airy cream ceiling of St Mary Aldermary and admired the dusty pink stonework of Bracken House – home of the Financial Times.

A standout stop was Christchurch Greyfriars garden, where we learned about the distinctive saffron-yellow socks — not unlike our Saffron Simply Sartorials — worn by pupils at Christ’s Hospital since 1552. The school, which once stood on this very site before relocating to Horsham, has held onto the tradition for centuries. Some say the socks were originally dyed with saffron as a way to deter the city’s rats.

And as all good walks should, we ended with a drink – this time at the historic Viaduct Tavern, where talk of socks and summer plans continued over pints.

Meet Mrs Londoner

With a background in ancient history, public health and the BBC, Sarah Williams-Robbins blends storytelling with insight. Her walks are a refreshing antidote to screen time – inviting you to slow down, look up, and rediscover the city.

From Roman ruins to green spaces, she covers it all with charm and wit. Keep an eye on @meetmrslondoner for upcoming tours, or book a bespoke walk for your team, group or family.

Suited & Booted in the City

We were also joined by Maria Lenn, founder of Suited & Booted, our fantastic charity partner who support vulnerable men getting ready for interviews with confidence and style. As a supporter of their work, Sarah was delighted to have them involved – a fitting addition to a day all about community and connection.

Why It Mattered

The best part? The people. Our guests – loyal LSC customers from across the city and beyond – brought the energy. They came curious, left inspired and somewhere along the way, became something closer to community.

For us, that’s what it’s all about: not just selling socks, but creating something that lasts. A sense of style, yes. But also connection. Moments that matter.
